So WAYW today, SG?
Seeing as how today is the first full day I'm at home completely free, I went about reading all my favourite fashion blogs. Fashion Nation featured a local street fashion feature site that I never knew about and I am loving it.

Just Close your Eyes and Bid for Charity
Local celebrity + 1 international celebrity designed shoes on ebay! The proceeds go to some charity for young entrepreneurs.
And yeeeeaaaaah, apparently nobody likes the designs [or the celebrity] that much. No surprise though, they should all stick to their day jobs.
It is soooo strange that nobody has placed a bid on Click 5's shoes yet. Sure, maybe their idea of a coveted design are their, uh, exclusive signatures but come on, they're Click 5!
Speaking of which, I think their new vocalist is a much better fit. The previous guy's nasally pretty pop voice annoyed the hell out of me.
Out of all the designs I saw, the only one I liked was Ben Yeo's, and his was the most minimalistic -_-.
His also has the most bids so far.
But still, at least theirs was more tolerable. When I saw the pair designed Julian Hee, I literally fell off my chair before experiencing seizures from the mere ugliness of it.
Behold the blasphemy:

Irregular Choice should be MY regular
The past couple of days I've been nursing myself from a movie marathon all-nighter that was fuelled by junk food! On top of that it's that time of the month so needless to say, the next morning my face looked like it got attacked by deranged mosquitos.
Anyway back to the things you care about, SHOES! Irregular Choice shoes!
They have just about every type of shoe a girl could ever need and more! They're also gorgeously lusty so your friends might have to kill you for them.

The Seventeen Tote
Thanks to Fashion Nation's tipoff, I bought this month's issue of Seventeen! Just for the fabulous tote. So now the entire population of Singapore probably owns one and strangely enough I don't really care.
It has the most adorable print, it's not of shoddy quality, and more roomy than expected. Hell, my laptop could fit in it! Not that I'm confident enough to lug my laptop around in it anyway.
I did want the other design though, which is Tamagotchi-like but I couldn't find it anywhere. Meh, I'm quite content with my owl.

Getais, anyone?
881! I love it!
Before I watched the movie I read reviews and people were gushing about how they're now going to lug their whole family to the getai.
I pish-poshed, thinking that while I expect a good movie from Royston Tan, I for one wasn't selling out THAT easily. Let's just say the idea of warbling old tunes for the dead in the gawdiest getups isn't going to cut it for me.
But Royston Tan did it. He made me want to sing in getais! ONLY if I get to wear whatever the movie's protaganists, the Papaya Sisters were wearing:
I even loved the performances of MTV VJs May and Choy. They were annoying as annoying can be, playing whiny rivals to the Papaya Sisters. They didn't annoy me though. Their concept was space age techno gear, I guess.
The getai performance final dramatic showdown was fun to watch because of the many costume changes both sides went through. I'd gladly watch this movie again and appreciate not only the elaborate, decadent, pleasingly gaudy costumes but the heartwarming storyline.
FYI, '881' sounds like 'papaya' when said in chinese (pa-pa-yao), cool eh?
One more thing, I'm hereby putting myself on a strict fast. No more shopping, no more junkfood, no more shopping, no more going out, no more shopping. Being broke stinks. I really really wanna go for Womad this weekend, but I can't even afford the student price :( If anyone would send a ticket my way I'd love you forever :)

Cloth-shopping and amateur-ish photography in Chinatown
I went cloth-shopping today and I came home satisfied. Chinatown is officially my favourite place to go cloth-shopping.
Perhaps more like it houses my favourite shop to buy cloth. It's a tiny shop with an amiable granny who tends the shop alone. She could have made me buy the whole shop if she wants me to because she was sweet and not-crabby and old. I can't refuse an old lady, come on.
Digress!
I bought 3 pieces of cloth: off white cotton, hot pink cotton and linen, stripy cotton. I loovvvee.
Outfit for the day: White oversized shirt, light blue eyelet skirt.
FUN.

CandyPulp
Quick post now, I have a couple of tests tomorrow that I have barely prepared for.
Anyway, I think I'm going to start featuring local online shops more often. Yes, I know, it's about time.
The thing is though, I don't just notice these sites for having great stuff, but also because I find they have a great business marketing model. But that's another post altogether isn't it.
Should I be a little worried that schoolwork has integrated itself into my fun time?
Anyway, I present to you Candypulp.
It's an online shop livejournal thing that sells mainly accessories that I'm not fascinated about and specially imported clothes.
They bring in great pieces in verrrry limited quantities from Hong Kong. Needless to say their pieces fly off the shelf. Seems as though everytime I check them out, they're sold out.
I love looking at their collection. They're obviously hand-picked, and are very good runway versions that won't make the wearer look like a trendwhore.
I love that every piece, and I do mean EVERY piece looks exclusive.
Another giant plus would be that the items they bring don't look cheap at all yet the prices are relatively affordable. I'm thinking I'd rather buy something from them than go down to the likes of Zara or Mango, hmph.
I should probably do a whole interview and research and all that journalist junk, but that would be letting more work integrate into fun time. HAH.
