Still alive! I can't get myself to sleep early every night! So my everyday ensembles have barely been note-worthy. Dresses and black are heaven-sent.

Anyway, point of post: THREADLESS IS SPRING CLEANING!

I think I'm going to get my future tshirt fixes from Threadless. Which is not now unfortunately because I am on a strict no-shopping diet.

My girlfriend and I are nuts, but we caught an impromptu Step Up 2 last night. A WORK night. But it was worth it. Watch it for the sick dance sequences, don't expect anything for its storyline, it's as cheesy as any other teen flick, which at least makes for a great mid-week movie.

Now besides the random need to break out in awkward retarded robot moves, I also want my technicolour sneakers. Like NOW. *Apple bottom jeeeeeeeenns, boots wit the furrrrr wit the furrrrrrr...*

I, for one, am Enchanted.

Watch Enchanted!

Just when you think fairy-tale movies can't get any fresher Enchanted comes along. It's a feel-good movie with subtle jokes and even subtler adult references make this a great movie for everyone to watch.

A great movie that had me memorise the costume designer's name becomes a fashionably great movie. Mona May is the costume designer by the way.

Gorgeous turquoise blue frock with delicate details.
As if the gorgeous costumes weren't reason enough, you should really watch how Giselle [Amy Adams] makes the dresses. Hilarious.

The same dress but with a pretty paper umbrella accessory.

This was the most perfect feminine and flirty day dress that stopped at the knees, too bad I couldn't find a full photo of it.
It's a kind of dress you'd want to picnic in, but you never will because it's too pretty to be blemished.

A more modern aubergine "real world" slinky dress.
I love that it's not expectedly modern black.

Comic relief comes in a strangely charming package of Prince Edward. James Marsden aka Cyclops of X-Men is hilariously entertaining every step of the way. The human form way at least. He can sing as well, awesome.

I don't know why but suddenly I'm paying attention to make-up detailing. Susan Sarandon's eye make-up is the gorgeousness and I like that crown thingy on her head as well.

For the purposes of this movie post, I also caught Beowulf.

I don't quite like it.
Watch if you want to see Angelina Jolie almost naked in animated form *yawns*.

Hello Much-needed Weekend Getaway!

But I reallllyyyy need to blog! It's been a while.

Things for you to do because my boring blog is not entertaining enough.

1) Watch Stardust!

I caught the midnight movie yesterday - godsend considering the fact that I stayed until 10pm at work! !@#$% - and I loved it. Even if you think fantasy movies are bullshit because they all seem to ride on the popularity of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings [eg. me], you should just catch this one anyway.

Because! Robert De Niro was extremely hilarious! Claire Danes was gorgeous, the actor who played male lead Tristan was dorkishly cute, and Michelle Pfeiffer [spelling?] was good as a villain. Is it just me or does pfeiffer seem to be getting a lot of evil roles recently?

The outfits were only mildly captivating. Actually I could only remember a certain clingy silver dress and a royal blue gown.

The graphics were, as expected, mind-blowing. Subtly funny, and I could take the not-too-overbearing heroics.

2) Shop at FredFlare!

Heh. Cause I'm definitely having fun now looking at all the quirks offered.

Project runway champ, Jay McCaroll's bowling bag!

A book on how to make soft toys, waay cute.

Because kittens are waaaaay more fashionable. Hmph.

Googly Eye rings, uh, yeah! -_-

I love my girlfriends!
Have not met my school ones though, it's tough to set a proper date because ALL of us have overtime and not getting paid for it. Girlsss! Steamboat dinner!

Hairspray my hair BIG!

Hairspray was awesome!

It was so much fun and happy that you leave the theaters trying to recall the lyrics of the catchy songs. And then in the toilet you immediately attempt one of the dance moves which involves some butt smacking.

And so are the wardrobe. Gorgeous circle dresses, awfully cute preppy ensembles, hell, take me back to the 60s!

Amanda Bynes' dress in the closing scene was probably my favourite out of the whole movie. I couldn't find a full length movie still anywhere. It has metal links near the bottom and a matching mini cape.

Circle dresses were everywhere! Brittany Snow also seems to get the prettiest dresses, though that's most probably because you don't really pay attention to what the rest of the cast are wearing.
Another thing I loved were the ballet pumps worn throughout the movie.

I'm embarrassed to say Zac Efron made me melt.
Every time he came on screen you can hear audible sighs and coos - mostly from me and my girlfriend and these two other girls behind us -_-.
He was so dashing that even the scene of him eating a spoilt chocolate bar while singing his love to Tracy Turnbald's photo was freakishly romantic.

To end off, exam results are out, don't know if I should be disappointed since the grades are more or less what I've expected but I've never seen that much C's. Bah, at least my GPA is still above 3, though just barely.

Back to SS 08! I just flipped through Anna Sui's and Gwen Stefani's collection and I was excited!

I want more dresses. More more more dresses :(

Getais, anyone?

881! I love it!

Before I watched the movie I read reviews and people were gushing about how they're now going to lug their whole family to the getai.

I pish-poshed, thinking that while I expect a good movie from Royston Tan, I for one wasn't selling out THAT easily. Let's just say the idea of warbling old tunes for the dead in the gawdiest getups isn't going to cut it for me.

But Royston Tan did it. He made me want to sing in getais! ONLY if I get to wear whatever the movie's protaganists, the Papaya Sisters were wearing:






I even loved the performances of MTV VJs May and Choy. They were annoying as annoying can be, playing whiny rivals to the Papaya Sisters. They didn't annoy me though. Their concept was space age techno gear, I guess.

The getai performance final dramatic showdown was fun to watch because of the many costume changes both sides went through. I'd gladly watch this movie again and appreciate not only the elaborate, decadent, pleasingly gaudy costumes but the heartwarming storyline.

FYI, '881' sounds like 'papaya' when said in chinese (pa-pa-yao), cool eh?

One more thing, I'm hereby putting myself on a strict fast. No more shopping, no more junkfood, no more shopping, no more going out, no more shopping. Being broke stinks. I really really wanna go for Womad this weekend, but I can't even afford the student price :( If anyone would send a ticket my way I'd love you forever :)
