Men's Spring/Summer 2007 Part 2

Burberry Prorsum

Trenchcoats and bunched-up sleeves dominate. I love bunching up sleeves because it changes the whole feel to the outfit. It's a great way to casualise a too-polished outfit.

The looks are also quite androgynous, I could myself wearing the very same pieces the models are without changing anything.

Versace

The Versace man this season is not sloppy, but slouchy in a glamorously cool kind of way. He also loves his bare chest, and has or creates for himself, nice broad shoulders.

Prada

Over at Prada, short shorts dominate. I like the colour contrast of dull hues like sleet gray with a whole array of vivid disco colours.

Actually this particular show seems to be a display of contrasts. There's the contrasting short shorts and long-sleeves, for one. Spot some more, anyone?

Vivienne Westwood

Why did I not expect a dress to turn up again? A manly man dress complete with manly man giant frills!

The nautical sailor trend gone too far by making blonde model wear baby rompers. But I can just imagine this with so many layers. Let's try to make it... cleaner.

Take a lil of Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Neil Barrett, put them together and you get...
Ta-dah. I like putting images together like this. It always fascinates me how models all seem to have the same body that you can almost see no mismatch.

Men's Spring/Summer 2007 Part 1

First and foremost, YAY, for Spring/Summer collection '07.

Secondly, I really like the men's collection. I do not usually pay attention to Men's fashion simply because, I'm uh, not a man. But nowadays I find myself perusing and enjoying the men's collection.

Neil Barrett

Neil Barrett's collection has this rock star appeal, what with the black and white, leather jacket, and the too short pants. I suppose this is a good change from all the happy colours and summer berms.

Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen named this collection "Harlem". I saw a lot of whites, blues and khakis. The common material used would be summer-appropriate linen. I like the collection for making crisp suits look so comfortable. Effortlessly cool is the keyword for any summer, I think, and this works.

Accessory of the day would be the mosquito-net veil thingy, useful in keeping the abundant desert sand from the pretty eyes. Right.

Bottega Veneta

Bottega Veneta's collection has a lot of white suits, more casual army green, and khaki in various forms. What really drew me to the collection were the bags. I can't help wanting one of them as a boyfriend so that I can use one of the very unisex bag.

Missoni

Ah, I've always admired Missoni and their use of the trademark pattern. For this particular collection, not only do I love the genius use of vibrant colours and mismatched patterns, I love the loafers and bermudas. Smart casual with non-cloying happy vibe, this is definitely one of my favourite men's collections.

I'll be back again with looks from Versace, Vivienne Westwood and Prada, hang tight.

Model Behaviour

I like looking at backstage photos of models.

I've always had this vision that models wear only jeans and a white shirt when they're not working because that's the classic model look. So it's fun to see what they really wear.

Yes, all photos not much words but it's more because I'm busy rushing assignments, not laziness :P.

Jimmy Choo in Singapore

Jimmy Choo is finally coming to Singapore!

I was out with my mom shopping for bags and was expecting to enter Coach but a big barricade of blown-up Nicole Richie stopped me. They took over Coach at Takashimaya basement level. Can't wait.

The Great Singapore Sale have started, finally, because Mango's having their crazy sale. Burberry's on sale, so is Calvin Klein, Armani Xchange, and a bunch of others I'm sure. Go crazy :)

Socks and shoes

My ballet flats were giving me blister problems so I decided to wear thick socks in the shoes to wear them out, though I might have expanded it a tad too much. Then I looked at myself in the mirror and saw this:

I don't know how many jigs I did after that while wearing this. I felt so darn happy and cute!

Still, I wonder if I'll ever get the opportunity to wear this out. Nice idea to toy around with though.

The only look on the runway reminiscent of this one that I managed to find would be at Prada's and Jean Paul Gaultier's Spring '06.

The luxurious Prada silk stockings that had everyone rave about.

Even then, it's a more sophisticated look as opposed to the quirky schoogirl-ish one, because of the varied heights, the material and most importantly, the shoes they were paired with.

The Japaneseys say high socks the way to go!

Gloves

Another reason for me to get a driver's license... the opportunity to wear gloves! Wearing them in Singapore's hot and humid weather can never be glamorous. Unless you're in an air-conditioned place all day long.

Proenza Schouler

The classic. Just enough to cover the hands.

Moschino

Gloves that go up to the elbows are always elegant. You'll tend to feel and move more gracefully as well, as all the hand movements are magnified. They're like heels for the hands.

Chanel

Love these. It's exquisite, but the finger cut-offs make it look less... haughty.

Versace

A little leather never hurts. Much *whips*.
Sorry can't resist.

Nina Ricci

Since I'm going to be in the confines of the car anyway, why not go all out and glue dead guinea pigs to the gloves! Yay!

Colourblock Dresses

The Fall season colours of blacks, whites and neutrals are getting a bit drabby so we shall move on to some colour. Instead of a colour, why not have many colours! Whee!

Right. So yes, now I have a thing for colourblock dresses. Why dresses, because I'm still not over them yet :). Check these out from Asos.com. Too bad they don't ship to Singapore.

Personal fave, the dress/top with pouffy sleeves.

While this dress has an earthy tone to it, it has funk to it, thanks to the usage of whimsical purple and orange.

This one fits in well with the nautical trend [which is also getting a bit too tiresome]. I would rather pair this with a beret and a patent leather clutch. Result: Parisian chic.

Leopard prints, anyone?

I've never harboured a liking for animal prints because they always come off tacky.

Now, I'm having mixed feelings. Animal prints are starting to grow on me. Doesn't help that I keep seeing decent-looking pieces everywhere, especially one at Dorothy Perkins. A well-cut leopard-print top with a thin red patent waist belt.

Which brings us to this photo I took from TheSartorialist.

I like it, though I'll still stay off animal prints.

If I do decide to wear it one day, I'll know that the key would be to match animal prints with the colour red.

I missed the Threadless Sale!

Threadless 3-Day $10 Sale!

And I missed it, sorry. It ends today.

Anyway, late or not, here are some funny t-shirts that I would've wanted.

Ninjas and Pirates agree: Cowboys Suck
Because I grew up loving ninjas and I've grown up loving pirates *coughjacksparrow*!

Giants Talk Like This
Reading Harry Potter at the moment so this fits somehow. I like Hagrid.

Meat is Murder. Tasty, tasty murder.
I've been craving for chicken.

Taiwan Auctions

A friend told me that Taiwan auctions has the nicest things at the cheapest prices, so I went over and had a look.

I can't understand a single chinese character but for me, the price and pictures are enough.

Check out Taiwan Yahoo! Auctions or Ebay.

I apologise for the very brief entry. Feeling really tired and am in the midst of a good book read :)

8 of the Best Summer '06

According to June's issue of Singapore ELLE, these are the 8 best looks to carry this summer.

UNIFORM CHIC

The one look that I haven't had the opportunity to try out. All you really need is the high waisted pencil skirt and the smart blouse. Accessorize with a wide tie, chunky necklace and pantent leather shoes like they did here. I would add on braces and a wide waist belt.

IN THE NAVY

Ah yes, who could ignore the nautical craze. I don't have to repeat what everyone else has piped on so much. It's all about the stripes, the blue+red+white combo, and the sailor's tattoo motifs. Mix and match with other prints, like polka dots or geometric shapes.

PRINTASTIC MOD

Well, print crazy. The not very versatile look, but I do appreciate loud prints now and then.

SEXY SPORTSWEAR

The key is to go loose on one end and tight the other. That is, either wear a loose blouse with tights [think the 80's], or wear a Madonna-esque leotard with sports capris.
No sweatpants please, jersey works best. I would get one of those really sexy lowbacks from dancewear stores.

THE NEW ROMANTIC

Yes, I do realise that the whole white victorian thing is getting a bit tiresome. I still like romantic flirty though. I'm planning to get a nice blouse with details like eyelets, crochet, lace, ruched, anything to fancy it up.

ALL WRAPPED UP

Skirts! My obsession with skirts is still very much alive so yes. Elle says crisp "apron" style skirts are hot.

HOT STONES

Unique jewellery is very in and you can find them, well, anywhere. Which makes me question the individualism factor in such accesories. I mean, how unique can unique be if everyone has the same unique jewellery? Besides they all look like a jumbled mess to me.

ON HIGH STREET

I like Mod. It's all about the cigarrette pants, pencil skirts and colour blocks.
